LEED (an acronym for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a
growing and important part of our practice. As we all look to how we can
make the best effect in the world which we plan, design, and build, LEED
provides a framework for decision-making in sustainable solutions. It also
informs our everyday decisions as designers. Deborah Snow is a LEED
professional, having completed training and testing for the organization.
If you would like to learn more about sustainable design (sometimes called
“green” design), check out the U.S. Green Building Council’s website:
www.usgbc.org. The site will direct you
to LEED information. How do you make a building “green” or “sustainable?” Strategies to make buildings less reliant on fossil fuels, on imported materials and technologies and more inter-dependent on local materials, renewable energy and re-usable elements are part of our everyday work. Talk to us about how we can help you in your efforts to be a responsible community member in this arena. |
